The Bible leads to one person- Jesus Christ. All the stories, the people, the plots, the intrigue, everything points towards the coming of one man. Jesus himself.
So what is the gospel of Jesus? Well in short…. Men and women are different from other animals because they can have an intimate relationship with God. However, sin got in the way creating a gap between God and man which man definitely could not get across. With man utterly unable to do anything about his own problem, God sent his Son, Jesus Christ, as a man to earth.
Jesus was perfect in every way, despite being human as well as God. He lived on earth and suffered all the normal things that people suffer from, and yet was still perfect. He was killed by men, but his death bridged the gap between man and God. This could not be bridged any other way. This means that to get back to God, the only way is through Jesus. The fact that he was sinless means that he takes our sins on himself and deals with them for us.
So what do I have to do then? Well the answer is simple...
Stage 1 Admit to Jesus that you’ve bodged up. No one can put hand-on-heart and say they’ve never done anything wrong, never done anything which needs forgiveness.
Stage 2 Tell Jesus that you give your life to him
Stage 3 Ask to be filled with the Holy Spirit These three things can be done by praying the prayer below. You could pray it alone, or you could find a Christian you know to go through it with you. When you pray, just talk it out casual as you would to a friend you know well. Jesus does not expect you to speak in a way other than the normal way you speak.
Dear Jesus, I’m sorry for the things that I have done wrong in my life. I know repent of all I know is wrong. Please forgive me. I give my life you Lord Jesus and ask that you walk with me as a friend and King forever. Please fill me with you Holy Spirit, to be with me from this moment onwards. Amen.
